An Original Vintage Theatrical 8" x 10 1/4" [20 x 26 cm] Movie Still (Learn More)

The Winged Horseman, the 1929 B. Reeves Eason & Arthur Rosson silent romantic love triangle airplane aviation cowboy western (far more complicated than typical westerns of the time; in this, Hoot is a Texas Ranger who rides a motorcycle and who has to save a ranch from a plane that is dropping bombs on it, and he does so, and wins the rancher's daughter's hand at the same time) starring Hoot Gibson, Ruth Elder, Charles Schaeffer, Allan Forrest, and Herbert Prior. Note that Ruth Elder, who plays the rancher's daughter, was a female pilot who was known as the "Miss America of Aviation". In 1927, she tried to match Charles Lindbergh's record, but had mechanical troubles just 360 miles from land, but it was still at that time the longest flight ever by a woman, and she was given a ticker-tape parade when she returned to New York. She made this movie in 1929, and as soon as it concluded, she entered the very first Women's Air Derby, and came in fifth. She appeared in two more movies, and she married six times. Note that this is a "lost" film, which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist.
NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography.
Important Added Info: Note that this great still shows Ruth Elder after the completion of the movie, headed to participate in the Women's Air Derby, and saying goodbye to co-star Hoot Gibson! Also note that this still measures 8" x 10 1/4" [20 x 26 cm].

Condition: very good to fine. Other than a few minor defects around the edges, the still is in pretty nice condition!
