Red Sonja is a Marvel Comics comic book sword and sorcery superhero who first appeared in 1973, and was created by Roy Thomas & Barry Windsor-Smith, partially based on Robert E. Howard's characters Red Sonya of Rogatino and Dark Agnes de Chastillon. In 1985 a feature film starring Brigitte Nielsen in the title role was released, and there have also been television and animated adaptions.
