An Original Vintage Linenbacked World War I Poster (measures 31" x 41 1/2" [79 x 105 cm]) (Learn More) And They Thought We Couldn't Fight, the 1919 U.S. post-World War I (WWI) War Bond poster ("Victory Liberty Loan") encouraging civilians to purchase war bonds (to help pay for the huge debts incurred during the war), and featuring Clyde Forsythe art of a rifle-wielding, wounded U.S. soldier holding three German helmets as trophies Artist: Clyde Forsythe Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster was never folded. It had some tears and paper loss in parts of the borders, very slightly entering the background, with a diagonal crease and a tear in the lower right corner, entering the "OAN" of "LOAN". Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The person who backed the poster did restoration only to the bottom left corner in the black background, where there was paper loss, but left alone the areas of paper loss scattered in the blank borders (see our image).
