DRUMS OF FU MANCHU ('40) DRUMS OF FU MANCHU ('40) Argentinean OR search current auctions Auction History Result n289 DRUMS OF FU MANCHU linen Argentinean movie poster '40 serial Date Sold 9/26/2006Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Argentinean Movie Poster (measures approximately 29" x 43") (Learn More) Drums of Fu Manchu, the 1940 John English & William Witney Asian villain crime adventure serial ("A Republic Serial in 15 Thrilling Chapters"; "Suggested by stories by Sax Rohmer"; "Based on a novel by Sax Rohmer") starring Henry Brandon (in the title role as Dr. Fu Manchu), William Royle, Robert Kellard, Gloria Franklin, and Olaf Hytten. Note that a condensed feature version of this serial was released as a feature in 1943. Because there was a three year lapse between this serial version and the feature version, we list them as two separate movies. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: very good. This poster was linenbacked, and one of the following is true: either the poster had minor defects, and was well backed, OR it had more significant defects, but they were extremely well restored, OR it had some very minor defects that were not completely restored, and are slightly noticeable. You can tell which of the above is the case for this particular poster by reading our "Pre-Restoration Defects & Quality of Restoration" description and also by looking at our "super-sized" image of the actual poster (we are the only major auction company we know of that gives accurate detailed pre-restoration information about linenbacked posters to our bidders, but we wish everyone did!). The poster had small paper loss at the top two crossfolds and minor wear on the foldlines. There was a faint diagonal scuff mark running from the top left of Fu Manchu's cap down across the bridge of his nose. There were some other scuff lines in the title area. The borders of the poster were folded back at one time and there was wear along the regular folds and along the folded borders. There were many staple holes around the edges of the poster. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was pretty well backed, but the restorer simply backed it "as is" (and the defects described above are not very noticeable or distracting). Learn More about condition grades
