An Original Vintage Theatrical French Movie Pressbook (pb; measures 8 1/2" x 12 1/4" [22 x 31 cm]; 8 pages) (Learn More) Rough House Rosie, the 1927 Frank R. Strayer silent boxing sports romantic comedy ("Story by Nunnally Johnson"; about a girl who wants to be a Broadway actress, but fails, and then she tries to mix with rich society people, and that doesn't work out either, but she ends up in love with a champion boxer, and at one point, she performs in a dancing/boxing nightclub act, and she helps her boyfriend win the championship by distracting his opponent with her sexy eyes!) starring Clara Bow (in the title role as Rosie O'Reilly), Reed Howes, Arthur Housman (as professional gambler "Kid Farrell"), Doris Hill, Douglas Gilmore, and John Miljan. Note that Clara Bow was the most famous "flapper girl" of the mid to late 1920s (she became known as "The It Girl" after the character she played based on the popular novel by Elinor Glyn). She had a major role in Wings, and was Paramount's biggest star at that time. But she had a notorious private life and seemingly "settled down" when she married cowboy star Rex Bell in 1931 (she had two children and she retired from movies), but sadly in 1949 she went into a mental institution after a failed suicide attempt (she had had psychiatric issues for quite some time) and she was released but never returned to her family, and lived alone until her death in 1965. Also, note that this is a "lost" film which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this pressbook may have been removed from a large French exhibitor manual for this year, both because it has a number in the top right corner and because it has slight surface paper loss at the back of the spine. However, it IS the complete pressbook, which does show poster images from this movie, and it would only be that it was also included in an exhibitor book in addition to being printed separately as a pressbook. Also note that we have never before auctioned this French pressbook! Condition: fair to good, NO CUTS. The pressbook has faint water staining in the top right corner of all pages, but the pages are not stuck together. Learn More about condition grades
