Date Sold 10/26/2023Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Unfolded Half-Sheet Poster (1/2sh; measures 22" x 28" [56 x 71 cm]) (Learn More) the 1945 double-bill ("Double Horror to Double-Scare You!") of House of Frankenstein, the 1944 Erle C. Kenton Universal monster horror thriller ("Frankenstein's Monster! Wolf Man! Dracula! Hunchback! Mad Doctor!"; the sixth Universal Frankenstein movie, and this was the first "all-star" movie, with all of its best monsters brought together in a single movie!) starring Boris Karloff, Lon Chaney Jr. (as Lawrence Talbot, the Wolfman), John Carradine (as Dracula), J. Carroll Naish (as Daniel, the hunchback), Anne Gwynne, Peter Coe, Elena Verdugo and Lionel Atwill (Atwill must have had a terrible agent that he ended up behind Peter Coe, and Elena Verdugo in the billing!). At least Atwill did better than poor Glenn Strange, who played the Frankenstein monster, and didn't even receive billing! Also, is it just me, or is it the height of insensitivity that a "huncback" was treated as a monster on a par with Frankenstein, Dracula, and The Wolf Man? AND The Mummy's Curse, the 1944 Leslie Goodwins Universal Egyptian-curse murder monster horror thriller sequel starring Lon Chaney Jr. (reprising his role as Kharis, the Mummy), Peter Coe, Jackie Lou Harding (as Kay Harding), Virginia Christine, Dennis Moore, Kurt Katch, and Napoleon Simpson. Note that an advance collector pointed out that this double-bill was released in late December of 1944. However, all known posters have a 1945 copyright so we will refer to it as 1945. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that the last example we auctioned of this poster sold for $1,710! Condition: good to very good. The poster was never folded. There is a tear at upper left that has been repaired with tape from the back. There are several fine creases scattered in various areas throughout and there are some light creases and faint smudges around the edges. There is a partial vertical crease at center (extending from the woman's head to Karloff's image). It is otherwise in generally nice condition and while certainly one could display this cool poster as it is, or one could choose to have restoration performed. Learn More about condition grades
