An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Style B Thirty by Forty Movie Poster (30x40; measures 30" x 40") (Learn More) Mother Wore Tights, the 1947 Walter Lang romantic family relationship musical ("Dad's in lights, mother's in tights!... and it's Wonderful!"; "Based on the book by Miriam Young"; "Dances staged by Seymour Felix & Kenny Williams"; about a young woman who wants to go to business school, but she ends up in vaudeville, and the star of the show starts an act with her, and they marry and have two children, and she retires, but years later, her husband convinces her to come out of retirement, which causes a problem for one of their daughters) starring Betty Grable, Dan Dailey, Mona Freeman, Connie Marshall, Vanessa Brown, Robert Arthur, Sara Allgood, William Frawley, Ruth Nelson, and Anabel Shaw NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: fair. This poster has been linenbacked, but it was not very well done, likely both because the restorer did not do a good job at all, and because the years since it has been linenbacked have not been kind to the poster. Overall, the poster was in fair to good condition prior to linenbacking. Generally, it had a huge number of creases and crinkle marks throughout the poster. The poster was not well backed at all, because you can still see some or all of the defects generally described above (in some cases, as should be immediately evident in our image, the linenbacker did no restoration to some of the defects), and if there was restoration of the above defects, it was not done very well. Certainly, a talented restorer could perform additional restoration (either with or without re-backing the poster), but it might be fairly expensive to have this done, so bear that in mind before you place a bid. Note that the restorer who mounted the poster did not leave any excess linen around the edges of the poster. Learn More about condition grades
