If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this is an extremely rare pre-World War II French poster! Virtually no French posters survive from before, during, or right after World War II. Apparently there were many paper shortages in France during World War II, resulting in the destruction of almost all pre-World War II posters! We have never auctioned it before. What IS linenbacking? Learn More Note that this poster ships in a very long tube (at least 33" long, but possibly 50" long or more). Therefore the shipping for this poster will be more than that for a poster that ships in a tube 32" or shorter, and possibly much more. Please bear this added shipping expense in mind before bidding on this poster. You can tell how long of a tube this poster needs to ship in by looking at the shorter dimension of its length and width and then adding 4" to that (so a 47" x 63" poster will need to ship in a 51" long tube). Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good. The poster had small paper loss at the crossfolds and darkening, smudges, and some tiny paper loss on parts of the folds. It had tears and small areas of paper loss scattered down the right edge, with a lesser amount of wear on the other folds. It had some creases and scuffs scattered throughout. Overall, the poster was in good condition prior to linenbacking. Someone long ago mounted the poster onto thin linen without any attempt at restoration. The poster was somewhat roughly handled after it was backed, which may have contributed to the creases in the poster and the tears and paper loss in the right blank border. If I owned this poster, I would surely immediately have it removed from the old linen and properly re-backed, and afterwards, it would display great, and it would not require much paint restoration.
