Walthall, Percy Williams, Conrad Nagel, Polly Moran, Edna Tichenor, and Claude King. Note that this is a "lost movie", and surely the most famous lost movie there is. Many many people have spent a very long time searching for a print of this movie, and hopefully it will turn up some day! Also, note that this film was remade as Mark of the Vampire in 1935. Artist: John Morton-Sale Important Added Info: Note that this is the Readers Library Publishing Company English photoplay edition in its original dust jacket (one of a collection of such books we are auctioning in this set of auctions). Here are some more details about these books: this company (like Grosset & Dunlap) was a publisher that made a deal with some studios to publish "movie edition" hardcovers of novels that were currently adapted into movies. They would republish the original novel as the movie came out (or soon after), and they would put a dust jacket on the book that showed the stars of the movie, and they would include several pages of images from the movie scattered in the book. These books were incredibly popular in the 1920s and 1930s. Note that we have pictured the front cover, the title page, and the interior page that shows the publishing information, and one or more interior 2-page spreads. Because we know that the dust jacket is an important part of the value of this book, we also pictured the entire dust jacket opened up. Between that image and our other images, you should be able to get a good sense of the overall condition of this book. Condition: fair to good. The interior pages have some darkening around the edges and they are rippled in the upper right due to exposure to moisture (there is some light water staining in addition to the darkening). There is paper loss at the bottom of the spine. The dust jacket also has paper loss at the bottom of the spine and some staining at the spine slightly extending into the bottom left of the front cover of the jacket. There is also much water staining in the left of the back cover of the jacket and the back flap. Obviously, one would prefer this book in nicer condition, but the great image on the cover of the jacket displays pretty well. However, bear in mind all this book's defects and look at our many images before bidding on it. Learn More about condition grades
