Gasnier silent romantic melodrama ("Maytime was lovetime when mother was a girl"; "Maytime means a gaytime in today's mad whirl"; "From the play by Rida Johnson Young"; "Scenario by Olga Printzlau"; about the changes in how women were treated in society, beginning in the late 1870s, when women wore hoop skirts, and continuing to the "Modern Jazz Age" with chorus girls in a jazzy backstage rehearsal) starring Harrison Ford (not the same Harrison Ford that we know as an actor today, but a very popular leading man of the 1920s), Ethel Shannon, William Norris, Clara Bow, and "the Twelve Most Beautiful Girls in Hollywood". Note that Clara Bow was the most famous "flapper girl" of the mid to late 1920s (she became known as "The It Girl" after the character she played based on the popular novel by Elinor Glyn). She had a major role in Wings, and was Paramount's biggest star at that time. But she had a notorious private life and seemingly "settled down" when she married cowboy star Rex Bell in 1931 (she had two children and she retired from movies), but sadly in 1949 she went into a mental institution after a failed suicide attempt (she had had psychiatric issues for quite some time) and she was released but never returned to her family, and lived alone until her death in 1965. Finally, note that the "scenario" was written by Olga Printzlau. Despite her exotic name, Printzlau was born in Philadelphia, and she was a screenwriter of over 100 movies between 1914 and 1933, but sadly, she is completely forgotten today.
