An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Window Card Movie Poster (WC; measures 14" x 22" [36 x 56 cm]) (Learn More) The Broadway Melody, the 1929 Harry Beaumont (nominated for the Best Director Academy Award for this film) New York City Broadway theater stage acting musical ("All talking! All singing! All dancing!"; "Dramatic sensation"; "Story by Edmund Goulding"; winner of the Best Picture Academy Award) starring Charles King, Anita Page, Bessie Love (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), William Demarest, Jed Prouty, and Kenneth Thomson NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that because this movie won the Best Picture Academy Award, many collectors of Academy Award winning movies want to include items from this movie in their collection, but it is one of the absolute most difficult Best Picture winners to get any sort of first release items from! Note that the card measures very slightly under 14" x 22" (an extremely tiny amount in each direction!) and has no left, right, or bottom blank borders, but it has NOT been trimmed (this was done at a time when MGM was experimenting with having as few borders as possible). Also note that this window card was never folded. Often window cards would be folded across the middle, because that would make them 11" x 14", and they could then be sent with standard folded posters. Most collectors put an added value on a window card that has never been folded. Condition: very good. The card had darkened somewhat and it had a 1 1/2" tear near the middle of the left border, and a 1" tear in the upper right border, with a vertical tear in the bottom of the "2" of "21" at the top right of the poster. It had a 1 1/2" tear in the right of the top border and a few tiny tears and tiny bits of paper loss around the edges. It had some creases, smudges, and scuffs scattered in the image, with just a few small stains. A very talented restorer pressed and flattened the card and performed restoration to the border defects and those within the image without backing the card. I really love this kind of restoration, because the card does not look "new" or "dipped in paint". You can still clearly tell that it is a 85 year-old card, but while you can see slight signs of restoration, it still displays fantastically! Learn More about condition grades
