An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Insert Movie Poster (measures 14" x 36" [36 x 91 cm]) (Learn More) Hardboiled Rose, the 1929 F. Harmon Weight romantic gambling melodrama ("Based on the story by Melville Crosman", which was a pseudonym for Darryl F. Zanuck; about a high class southern girl whose father kills himself because of his debts, and she goes to work in a gambling casino until she is rescued by a handsome young man) starring Myrna Loy (in the title role as Rose Duhamel), William Collier Jr., John Miljan, Gladys Brockwell, and Lucy Beaumont. Note that this is a "lost" film which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that ANY movie paper from this movie is incredibly rare. We only previously auctioned three lobby cards and two glass slides (and no other movie paper) from this movie until we received this insert! Also note that this poster has never been machine folded! Some pre-1970 insert posters were machine folded twice horizontally at the poster exchange, while some were not. It can be difficult to find an unfolded example of many pre-1970 insert posters (note that most post-1970 inserts were NOT machine folded, so they are pretty much only found unfolded, and therefore this does not apply to those inserts). Finally, note that because this insert was printed on a slightly heavier paper, it makes far more sense for it to be sent in a large flat package than rolled in a tube, because we are afraid that rolling it could cause damage to it, and we would hate for that to happen! We will only send it rolled in a tube if the buyer insists, and accepts full responsibility in case there is any damage to it. Condition: good to very good. The poster was never folded. It has small areas of paper loss in the bottom blank border, with some staining in the bottom edge. It has rippling in the middle of the right border, extending slightly into the yellow background, with some smudges in that area. There are smudges and scuffs scattered down the left blank border. Other than the above, the poster is in excellent condition, with bright colors and no restoration. Because the defects are mostly in the blank borders, the poster absolutely can be displayed and enjoyed as it is, or certainly, one might choose to have slight restoration performed (likely without backing the poster), but either way, this extremely rare poster would display wonderfully on its new owner's wall!
