An Original Vintage German Film Program (measures 8 3/4" x 11 1/2" [22 x 29 cm]; 8 pages) (Learn More) Feuertaufe (released in English-speaking countries as "Baptism of Fire"), the 1940 Hans Bertram German World War II (WWII) Nazi propaganda Poland airplane aerial bombing documentary (about the German blitzkrieg and Luftwaffe aerial bombardment of Poland filmed by combat cameramen) narrated by Herbert Gernot. Note that a knowledgeable collector tells us that it was made to be shown in other European countries so that they would not resist subsequent German invasions in 1940. It was never formally "released" in the U.S. Rather, confiscated copies (obtained from Canada, which declared war shortly after Britain did in September 1939 within days of the surprise German attack on Poland) were declared "war contraband" in the U.S., so that the German film could be legally incorporated into the interventionist RKO release "The Ramparts We Watch" to show Americans the brutal nature of the Nazi regime.
