An Original Vintage Photographic Transparency (measures 3 1/4" x 4" [8 x 10 cm]) (Learn More) The Barefoot Contessa, the 1954 Joseph L. Mankiewicz Italian/U.S. romantic melodrama ("'The World's most beautiful animal!'"; also written by Joseph L. Mankiewicz; told in flashbacks, it starts with the funeral of a glamorous movie star, and men in her life recall their interactions with her) starring Humphrey Bogart, Ava Gardner, Edmond O'Brien (winner of the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for this film), Marius Goring, Valentina Cortesa, Rossano Brazzi, Elizabeth Sellars, Warren Stevens, Bessie Love, and Riccardo Rioli. Note that this movie has a similar structure to that of Citizen Kane, which was written by screenwriter Joseph L. Mankiewicz's older brother, Herman J. Mankiewicz! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this is a very unusual transparency! A theater that used coming attraction glass slides apparently did not have one for this movie, so they inserted a transparency into a traditional cardboard glass slide holder and used that instead (or perhaps they still wanted to use glass slides after the company stopped making them, so they made their own!). Note that studios would create photographic transparencies to promote their latest movies (or stars), and they would sometimes send these to publicists, theater owners, newspapers, and others, to aid them in promoting the movie. We cannot say for certain what the origin of this transparency is, but we feel certain it was created by the studio at the time the movie it was promoting was made! Condition: very good.
