An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Window Card Movie Poster (WC; measures 14" x 18" [36 x 46 cm]) (Learn More) The Lives of a Bengal Lancer, the 1935 Henry Hathaway (nominated for the Best Director Academy Award for this film) British-in-India military war melodrama (nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award; "A Man's Story... That Women Love!"; based on the novel 'The Lives of a Bengal Lancer' by F. Yeats Brown; about the British in India fighting against impossible odds and demonstrating great bravery; Gary Cooper is a Canadian Scotsman, and most of the movie focuses on the younger soldiers and their older mentors; there is a romantic subplot involving Kathleen Burke, but it is very brief and not memorable, but that is more the fault of the screenwriters than poor Miss Burke) starring Gary Cooper, Franchot Tone, Richard Cromwell, Sir Guy Standing, C. Aubrey Smith, Monte Blue, and Kathleen Burke (who had been the Panther Woman in "Island of Lost Souls" two years earlier!) NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this window card has been trimmed and it now measures 14" x 18" [36 x 46 cm]. Also note that this window card was never folded. Often window cards would be folded across the middle, because that would make them 11" x 14", and they could then be sent with standard folded posters. Most collectors put an added value on a window card that has never been folded. Condition: good. The card had most of its blank top trimmed off and it had paper loss in the top right corner. It has areas of surface paper loss in the remaining part of the top blank border, slightly extending into the top edge of the image. It has a nail hole in the center of the poster in Cooper's eyebrow and one in the bottom right image background. It has a 5" irregular tear in the lower right border, but with no paper loss and a 1" tear 2" above that and a 1/2" tear 2" above that. It has some surface paper loss in the middle of the veil of the dancing girl at middle right. It has a very slight partial diagonal crease running down the half of the poster, but it is virtually unnoticeable from the front. Someone put a piece of clear tape on the back of the 5" tear described above, but otherwise, the card has had no restoration. Learn More about condition grades
