Somerset Maugham"; nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award; about an unfaithful wife of a Singapore rubber plantation owner who is spurned by her lover and shoots him, and then pretends it was an accident, and she almost gets away with it, but there is a letter she wrote that is incriminating, but can she get the letter destroyed, and what will her husband think?) starring Bette Davis (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), Herbert Marshall (who had a lesser role in the 1929 version of this film), James Stephenson (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), Frieda Inescort, Gale Sondergaard, and Victor Sen Yung NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this Belgian poster measures 14 1/2" x 22 3/4". Note that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube. Condition: very good. There are pinholes, creases, and smudges around the edges of the poster. There is a water stain in the bottom right blank corner. There are many creases across the top 1" of the poster, and the poster was folded back just above the top of Davis' head. There are smudges at the bottom of the English title "THE LETTER" and creases along the foldlines and there are a few smudges in the yellow lettering of the Belgian title. The above defects are the sort that respond well to restoration! After linenbacking by a talented restorer, this poster would look great, and there would be little paint restoration in the image!
