An Original Vintage 8 1/4" x 10" [21 x 25 cm] Stage Play Still (Learn More)

A Streetcar Named Desire, the 1947 - 1949 Elia Kazan Broadway stage play production (based on the work of Tennessee Williams) starring (in the original Broadway production) Jessica Tandy (as Blanche Du Bois), Marlon Brando (as Stanley Kowalski), Kim Hunter (as Stella Kowalski), Karl Malden, and Peg Hillias. Of course, Marlon Brando became a major star his performance in this show, and was soon lured away by Hollywood. In 1951, Elia Kazan made the movie version of this play, again starring Marlon Brando, Kim Hunter, and Karl Malden, but with Vivien Leigh taking over for Jessica Tandy. Any sort of paper from this Broadway version of this play is beyond rare, and items that show Marlon Brando (who left the play early) are even more rare!

Important Added Info: As noted above, any sort of paper from the first staging of this legendary play is beyond rare. This stage play still is surely from the first staging of the play. It has stamps on the back (one crediting photographer Ellen Darby), and it has handwritten at the bottom that it was at the Barrymore Theatre, which is where the play opened. Other than playbills, we have never auctioned anything from this before we were consigned two stage play stills (which we are currently auctioning in two separate auctions)!

Condition: good to very good. There are many creases around the edges, with most extending into the edges of the image background, but none affecting the images of the stars (see our images). There are also some extremely tiny tears in the center of the bottom blank border.
