An Original Vintage Theatrical Autographed 8" x 10" [20 x 25 cm] Movie Still (Learn More) Armida was a Mexican actress from the 1920s to the 1950s. She was the daughter of a Spanish magician, and as a teen she performed in a singing and dancing act with her two sisters. At 18, she was discovered by Hollywood and sang two numbers in 1929's "Mexicana", and John Barrymore picked her for the part of a gypsy dancer in "General Crack" in 1930. She continued performing throughout the 1930s and 1940s, but she almost always performed dance numbers, and did not become a regular actress like Lupe Velez. Some of her movies include: The Show of Shows, Rootin' Tootin' Rhythm, Always in My Heart, and Fiesta. She passed away in 1989 at the age of 78.
