An Original Vintage Theatrical Window Card Movie Poster (measures 14" x 22") (Learn More) Weary River, the 1929 Frank Lloyd (nominated for the Best Director Academy Award for this film) prison crime rehabilitation music songwriting melodrama ("Richard Barthelmess puts his soul to music in Weary River"; it seems like an early gangster movie, but with a really unusual twist; Barthelmess is a gangster and Compson is his girl, and he goes to prison, and while there, he discovers a talent for songwriting, and when he is released, he writes a hit song, and his girlfriend stays away from him for fear of causing him to relapse into crime, but when he might make a terrible decision, she returns and steers him straight; this may sound very far fetched, but it was based on a real life story!) starring Richard Barthelmess, Betty Compson, William Holden (no, not THAT William Holden, but another actor of the same name who made 20 movies between 1920 and 1931, and he died the next year, which was 7 years before the more famous William Holden made his first movie!), Louis Natheaux, George E. Stone, Ray Turner, Gladden James, Bob Kortman, and Blue Washington NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: good. much water staining down the right 2/3 of the poster; This is the sort of poster that responds well to restoration. After paperbacking by a good restorer, the poster would look great and there would not be much paint anywhere on the poster! This window card is in "lesser" condition (it is clearly in less than "very good" condition, and may be all the way down to "fair" condition, as we are selling a collection of early window cards that were found inside of a wall, and those all have water stains and other defects, which should be easily seen on our large images)! This window card has clear defects, which are likely to be very noticeable in our "large" or "super-sized" images that you can click on from our small image at right. In addition, we have also noted in words what these defects are in our "Description of Defects" section above, as some of these defects may not be all that visible in the images. We know that some collectors could accept this window card's defects, and display it as is, and we also know that many collectors would only be happy with this window card if they had it restored, so please do not bid on it unless you can accept it as it is, or are willing to pay to have it properly restored. Of course, you should realize that if you do not bid on this window card because of its condition defects, it may be quite some time before you see this window card offered again!
