An Original Vintage Folded World War II Poster (measures 25" x 38" [64 x 97 cm]) (Learn More) Keep 'Em Flying, the 1942 U.S. World War II (WWII) Army aviation recruiting poster ("'Keep 'em flying' is our battle cry!"; "Do your part for duty - honor - country") featuring Dan V. Smith and Albro F. Downe art of three B-17 bombers flying in formation with the U.S. flag in the background. The Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress is a four-engined heavy bomber developed in the 1930s for the United States Army Air Corps. From its introduction in 1938, the B-17 Flying Fortress evolved through numerous design advances, becoming the third-most produced bomber of all time. The B-17 was primarily employed by the USAAF in the daylight strategic bombing campaign of World War II against German industrial and military targets. It developed a reputation for toughness based upon stories and photos of badly damaged B-17s safely returning to base. Today, 9 aircraft remain airworthy, and dozens more are in storage or on static display. Artist: Dan V. Smith and Albro F. Downe Condition: fair to good. There is a large vertical tear down the poster at upper right and there are small jagged tears at upper right and around the edges of the poster (some repaired with tape from the back). There are creases scattered throughout the poster (more so around the edges). The poster is otherwise in generally nice condition and its colors are still vibrant and after linenbacking it will display quite nicely! Learn More about condition grades
