An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Style B Three-Sheet Movie Poster (measures 41" x 81") (Learn More) A Debtor to the Law, the 1919 silent cowboy western starring Henry Starr (billed as "The Man Who Stole A Million"; a real-life outlaw cowboy playing himself; he made this single movie and then returned to a life of crime!), Paul Curry (who also plays himself), Patrick Sylvester McGeeney, and Karl Hackett. Note that at the time of the movie's release, the pressbook's advertising claim that Starr had completely renounced his life of crime and had said, decisively, "I'm through", and that it would surely mean that he would never rob again, because "his word had always been a sacred pledge". It also stated that he had recently been informed that land he owned was yielding a huge amount of oil and that he was now "financially independent". Yet just two years after the making of this movie, Starr returned to his former profession of robbing banks, and was shot and killed in 1921 (I guess his gusher didn't pan out!). Also, note that this is a "lost" film which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: This three-sheet was printed in 2 sections. Condition: good. The poster is extremely fragile and unlike the other style of three-sheet from this movie (which we are selling in a separate eBay auction, and is in surprisingly decent condition), this poster has paper loss in the left vertical foldline (near the top of the image), and an area in the middle vertical foldline (in the shoulder and hat of the man at center). It also has creases and tears on some foldlines and is somewhat tattered in some borders, and has smudges and stains around the edges of the poster and on some foldlines. But even with these defects, this poster would not create a major challenge for a talented restorer! The areas of paper loss can be painted in, and after linenbacking by a top restorer, this poster will look quite nice! Learn More about condition grades
