An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Jumbo Lobby Card (LC; measures 14" x 17" [36 x 43 cm]) (Learn More) The Fleet's In, the 1928 Malcolm St. Clair silent Navy Naval military sailor romantic comedy ("Yoo-hoo girls The Fleet's In!"; about a sailor who meets a girl who works in a dance hall, but he mistakenly thinks she is a "working girl", so he doesn't want anything to do with her, but she wins him over) starring Clara Bow, James Hall, Jack Oakie, Bodil Rosing, Eddie Dunn, and Jean Laverty. Note that this is a "lost" film which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist. The plot of this movie was incredibly popular! It was remade in 1936 as "Lady Be Careful" starring Lew Ayres and Mary Carlisle, again in 1942 starring Dorothy Lamour and William Holden, and again in 1952, re-titled "Sailor Beware", starring Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis! Note that Clara Bow was the most famous "flapper girl" of the mid to late 1920s (she became known as "The It Girl" after the character she played based on the popular novel by Elinor Glyn). She had a major role in Wings, and was Paramount's biggest star at that time. But she had a notorious private life and seemingly "settled down" when she married cowboy star Rex Bell in 1931 (she had two children and she retired from movies), but sadly in 1949 she went into a mental institution after a failed suicide attempt (she had had psychiatric issues for quite some time) and she was released but never returned to her family, and lived alone until her death in 1965. Important Added Info: Note that on May 6 of this year, we auctioned a large collection of jumbo lobby cards, including many rare titles in excellent condition. Our consignor had held back a few of the best ones, but he was happy with the results of the rest of his collection, and now he has consigned the remaining ones. After these (which we are currently offering, all in individual auctions) are auctioned, there will be no more left from this amazing collection! Condition: very good to fine. There are some faint scuffs scattered in the image, but they are faint, and mostly only noticeable when the card is tilted to the light. Otherwise, the card is in nice condition. It is not at all fragile or brittle, which is very unusual for jumbo lobby cards (especially ones that are on a "linen" paper stock, like this one)! Learn More about condition grades
