He was the world heavyweight boxing champion from 1937 to 1950, winning 26 championship fights during that time. He enlisted in the army at the start of 1942, and served all the way until 1945! He passed away in 1981 at the age of 66. Important Added Info: Note that this news photo, which measures 7" x 9" [18 x 23 cm], has a great image of Joe Louis getting his preliminary physical before being drafted into the army in World War II. Condition: good. The news photo is lightly rippled, caused by the snipe glued to the back.
