An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Japanese Movie Herald (measures 5" x 7 1/2"; 8 pages) (Learn More)

This is a circa 1939 Japanese Herald with photographs of several film stars, advertisments for various products, and information about the following movies: Son of Frankenstein, the classic 1939 Rowland V. Lee Universal monster horror thriller (the third Universal "Frankenstein" movie) starring Basil Rathbone (as the original Dr. Frankenstein's son), Boris Karloff (as the Frankenstein monster), Bela Lugosi (as Ygor), Lionel Atwill, Josephine Hutchinson, and Donnie Dunagan AND Dark Rapture, the 1938 Armand Denis African jungle adventure documentary ("Filmed and recorded on the Denis-Roosevelt Belgian Congo expedition"). Note that Armand Denis had explored Africa and India in the 1930s with his wife Leila Roosevelt, and had produced and directed many short subjects with footage of their travels that he and his wife had shot themselves. In 1948, the 52 year-old Armand Denis divorced Roosevelt, and married 34 year-old Michaela Holdsworth, and together they made four movies (very similar to those he had made with his first wife). AND The Flying Deuces, the 1939 A. Edward Sutherland Foreign Legion military airplane aviation comedy ("The screen's greatest comedy team re-united for the biggest laugh show of their careers!") starring Stan Laurel, Oliver Hardy (Laurel and Hardy), Jean Parker, Reginald Gardiner, and James Finlayson

If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.

Condition: very good. There is a tiny bit of paper loss in one corner, and some minor darkening from age, but these defects are really very minor, especially considering that the herald is 69 years old!
