An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (LC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) The Kid, the classic 1921 Charlie Chaplin silent juvenile family relationship slapstick comedy ("Charles Chaplin in the comedy he took a whole year to produce"; "6 Reels of Joy"; "This is the great Film he has been working on for a whole year"; "The comedy the world famous comedian took a whole year to produce."; "Written and directed by Charles Chaplin"; about a man who repairs broken windows who "adopts" an abandoned child; the boy goes around breaking windows for his "father" to repair, and events put their relationship in jeopardy) starring Charlie Chaplin (billed as Charles Chaplin), Edna Purviance, Jackie Coogan (who would grow up and become Uncle Fester on TV's "The Addams Family"; in the title role as the Kid), Carl Miller, Granville Redmond, and May White. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned one example of this lobby card, and that was 16 years ago! Also note that First National made more than 8 lobby cards for this movie! There are a number of "regular" scene cards with full images from the movie, and then a number of other cards (like this one) that resemble title cards. There may have been 16 cards in all, but we just don't know, and we also don't know if one set predates the other in any way (they are both marked the same, and they are both extremely rare). If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Also note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has. Condition: very good. The card has slightly darkened. There is surface paper loss in the upper left blank border and a tack hole in each corner. Otherwise, the card is in nice condition.
