An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) Some Like It Hot, the classic 1959 Billy Wilder (nominated for the Best Director Academy Award for this film) romantic musical cross-dressing drag crime comedy ("Hot!!!"; about two out of work musicians who happen to witness the St. Valentine's Day Massacre in Chicago, and they need to leave town in a hurry, but the only jobs they can get is with an all-girl band, and they dress in drag, and one of the band members is Marilyn Monroe!) starring Marilyn Monroe ("and her bosom companions"), Tony Curtis, Jack Lemmon (nominated for the Best Actor Academy Award for this film), George Raft, Pat O'Brien, and Joe E. Brown (the great star of 1920s and 1930s slapstick comedy, who practically steals this movie with a wonderful comic performance and an unforgettable final line!) NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that there are two different "original" versions of this one-sheet. They are incredibly similar, EXCEPT one has a 1959 copyright date in the lower left corner, and the other has a 1960 copyright date. That second version has slightly smaller type in the bottom copyright information than the 1959 version, and the words "All Rights Reserved" have been inserted to the left of "Country of Origin U.S.A." LOOKING VERY CLOSELY AT THE TWO POSTERS, IT SEEMS VERY CLEAR THAT THE PRINTING QUALITY OF THE TWO POSTERS IS INCREDIBLY SIMILAR. However, we are certain there are some collector "purists" who would only want the "1959" version and not the "1960" version, so know that THIS poster is the one with the 1959 copyright date (in case you prefer owning that version!). What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good. The poster had small paper loss at the crossfolds and small tears and small paper loss on parts of several folds. It had a thin rectangle of paper loss in Monroe's chest just to the left of her chin and some stains and tiny paper loss in her cheek above that and in the left of her forehead. It had some tears and tiny paper loss in both Curtis' and Lemmon's nose (it appears that someone put marks on all three stars' faces). It had pinholes, tears, and paper loss around the edges. Overall, the poster was in fair condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was pretty well backed, given its significant defects, but you can clearly see signs of the above defects and the restoration of the above defects. Learn More about condition grades
