An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) Russell Janney's The Miracle of the Bells, the 1948 Irving Pichel rise-and-fall-of-a-Hollywood-star melodrama ("A picture to make the whole world happy!"; "Screen Play by Ben Hecht and Quentin Reynolds"; based on the novel by Russell Janney; about an actress who dies before her first movie is released, and the cynical agent who labors mightily to see that the movie is still released, aided by the kindly local priest, oddly played by Frank Sinatra!) starring Fred MacMurray, Alida Valli (billed as "Valli"; best remembered as the female lead of The Third Man), Frank Sinatra, Lee J. Cobb, Harold Vermilyea, Charles Meredith, and Philip Ahn NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster had small paper loss at the bottom crossfold and some tiny bits of paper loss between the bottom and middle crossfold on the vertical fold, with a lesser amount of wear on the other folds and in the borders. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The restorer backed the poster "in the European style", meaning that they did not do restoration to the defects described above. Note that either the restorer who mounted the poster did not leave any excess linen around the edges of the poster, or possibly the owner of the poster chose to carefully trim off the excess, so that the poster would fit in a frame.
