Date Sold 8/14/2014Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Autographed 7 1/4" x 9 1/4" [18 x 23 cm] Movie Still (Learn More) Neil Aspinall was a Welsh music industry executive from the 1960s to the 2000s. He was a long-time personal friend of Paul McCartney and George Harrison and acted as the road manager and personal assistant of The Beatles during their early years. He later became the Chief Executive of Apple Corps. He passed away in 2008 at the age of 66. Important Added Info: Note that this still has been personally autographed (signed) by Neil Aspinall! Note that a high percentage of photos with signatures of all four Beatles were actually signed by Neil Aspinall! He became The Beatles' road manager in 1963 (and he managed Apple Records until his passing in 2008). He did not sign the photos to deceive anybody! Rather, it was just part of his job because so many people wanted a signed photo! He signed all four names with his regular handwriting, and was not trying to imitate the actual Beatles' signatures (as is true of forgeries). Early on, he would sign all four Beatles' names completely (first and last name), but he soon got tired of doing that, and switched to only their first names. Interestingly, he would even sign photos that were given to people pretty close to The Beatles, including in this case, Jerry Pam, who was an L.A. publicist, and who, in 1964 and 1965, did the publicity for both "A Hard Day's Night" and "Help!". Mr. Aspinall signed this photo (which IS an original 7 1/4" x 9 1/4" still from "A Hard Day's Night") "To Jerry Pam, Our man in Hollywood", and then added the full names of all four Beatles! Note that this item was consigned to us by a man who has been a major movie memorabilia dealer for many years. During that time, he would regularly purchase collections of movie memorabilia from both collectors and people who worked on movies, and in some of those collections he purchased many autographed items, and sometimes he met with celebrities and had them autograph items he owned in person. Both we and our consignor feel it is extremely likely that the autograph on this item is authentic, but he does not have a certificate of authenticity. Condition: fair to good. The photo was signed with a ball point pen, and the signatures a fairly faint, although they can be clearly seen when the still is tilted to the light. The photo was displayed in a frame, and it has faded considerably, except for a thin strip in three borders that was not exposed to the light. There is masking tape on the back of most of the top border and part of the left and right borders, where it was attached to the mat (see our images). Learn More about condition grades
