A Group of 2 Photographic Negatives (measure 4" x 5" [10 x 13 cm]) (Learn More) Bud Westmore was a make-up artist in Hollywood from 1938 to 1973, and a member of the Westmore family of makeup artists. He is credited on over 450 movies and television shows, including To Kill a Mockingbird, Man of a Thousand Faces, The Andromeda Strain, Creature from the Black Lagoon and Stanley Kubrick's Spartacus. In 1957 Mattel asked Bud to design the makeup look of their soon to be iconic doll, Barbie. He had a major innovation in 1965. He had helped movie stars who had discolored teeth by applying a special "teeth whitening" formula to their teeth, which removed the stains. He had plans to market it to the general public, but it was not widely successful (perhaps there were fears of its safety). It would be many decades before the major toothpaste companies would come out with their own teeth whitening toothpastes, but it had been invented in the 1960s by Bud Westmore! He passed away in 1973 at the age of 55. Important Added Info: Note that these are CAMERA ORIGINAL negatives, the actual film that was in the camera when the photographer shot each image. We have taken a scan of the negatives as they appear, and also a special scan of the negatives that show the "positive image" of each.
