Note that Anna May Wong had been a major supporting actress in the 1930s, unfortunately almost always forced to play stereotyped roles, and almost never getting to play a lead role. In 1942, she stopped making movies, appearing on radio and the stage. In 1949, she appeared in this movie, and then her future appearances were almost exclusively limited to TV.
