An Original Vintage Theatrical Paperbacked Style B English Half-Sheet Movie Poster (1/2sh; measures approximately 22" x 28" [56 x 71 cm]) (Learn More) Sam Wood's Heartbeat, the 1946 Sam Wood France romantic crime comedy ("Ginger in Paris!"; "So neat! So Sweet! So-o-o indiscreet!"; about a young woman in Paris who runs away and joins a "pickpocket academy", but when she robs a nobleman of his wallet, she falls in love with him) starring Ginger Rogers, Jean-Pierre Aumont, Adolphe Menjou, Melville Cooper, Mikhail Rasumny, Mona Maris, Eduardo Ciannelli, Henry Stephenson, and Basil Rathbone NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that there were two different English half-sheets for this movie. We auctioned the other style (an unmarked style A) in April of this year, and now we have this style B poster. We had never auctioned either style before! Note that this poster has been paperbacked. What is paperbacking? This means the poster was backed onto a light paper backing (acid-free), that is similar in feel to that of the original poster (it means that the poster must be handled carefully, as the backing does not give it much added strength, but it is similar to having an unrestored poster, and yet it has been properly preserved). It is a similar process to linenbacking, except that most collectors use linenbacking for one-sheets and paperbacking for half-sheets, inserts, window cards. What IS paperbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. Prior to paperbacking, the poster was never folded. It had a 7" tear in the lower right border, extending into Menjou's forehead. It had smudges, tears, and small paper loss around the edges, with many creases down the left border and some creases in the lower left of the image. There were a few creases and scuffs scattered in the rest of the image. There was small paper loss in Rathbone's hair and forehead. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to paperbacking. The poster was pretty well backed, but you can see signs of the above defects and the restoration of the above defects.
