Note that this movie is always referred to as a "1937" movie, but it actually only had a limited opening in December 1937 (no doubt to qualify for the Oscars), and then it had its wide opening in February 1938. Artist: Bernard Lancy Important Added Info: Note that this 1951 re-release French one-panel is an extremely rare poster! We have never auctioned one in all our years of auctioning (we once auctioned the 1937 first release French style B one-panel, but that was 24 years ago!). This poster is similar to that first release style B one-panel, but it has "EN TECHNICOLOR" in the lower right corner. What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster had small paper loss at some crossfolds and some small tears on parts of some folds. It had darkening around the edges, with enlarged pinholes or nail holes in the borders. It had some tears and tiny paper loss in some non-foldline areas, and some stains scattered in some background areas. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The restorer backed the poster "in the European style", meaning that they did little restoration to the defects described above. Learn More about condition grades
