An Original Vintage Theatrical Deluxe 7 3/4" x 9 3/4" [20 x 25 cm] Movie Still (Learn More)

The Key to Power, the 1920 William Parke & Frederick A. Thomson silent World War I (WWI) West Virginia coal mining romantic melodrama (based on the story by Caroline Gentry & E. Lloyd Sheldon; a complicated story of a young man from West Virginia who graduates from West Point and is about to be an officer in World War I, but his father, who owns a coal mine back home, gets a deathbed promise from his son to come back and run the mine, and so he refuses to go to Europe, and his girlfriend thinks he is a coward and breaks off their engagement, but enemy agents try to blow up the mine, and he stops them and is a hero and he wins back his girl) starring Hugh Thompson, Claire Adams, J.H. Gilmour, Frazier Nounnan, Tom Burrough, and John J. Dunn. Note that this is a "lost" film which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist.

Important Added Info: Note that, as noted below, this still came directly from the estate of Claire Adams. She wrote a cool footnote on the back! Part of the movie was filmed on location in the Blue Ridge Mountains, and this still is from that location shooting. She notes under it that while on location, she "met Pa & Ma Hatfield - most famous of all feuders - The Hatfield & McCoy Feud". Also note that this is one of eight stills we were consigned that come from the estate of Claire Adams. All of them were her personal property, and some have handwritten notes on the back by her, either giving the name of the movie, or the name of the actors, or something personal she remembered about the movie (she likely wrote what she did on the backs decades after the movies were made). Not only are these stills in excellent condition, but they also came directly from the actress herself! The eight stills are in eight separate auctions. Also note that this still measures 7 3/4" x 9 3/4" [20 x 25 cm], but it has not been trimmed. Also note that this is a deluxe still printed on double weight paper stock.

Condition: very good to fine. The still is in very nice condition!
