Date Sold 8/27/2024Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. 5 Original Vintage Theatrical 8" x 10" [20 x 25 cm] Movie Stills (Learn More) Winners of the Wilderness, the 1927 W.S. Van Dyke silent Native American Indian cowboy western (McCoy is an Indian scout trying to make peace between the white settlers and the Indians; the movie includes a scene of a nude male settler being burned at the stake by the Indians!) starring Tim McCoy, Joan Crawford, Roy D'Arcy, Louise Lorraine, Edward Hearn, and Tom O'Brien. Note that director W.S. Van Dyke had gotten his start as an assistant on D.W. Griffith's "Intolerance" in 1916, and the following year, he was a director of many movies. He directed many westerns and other movies throughout the 1920s, and in 1928, he got his second big break when he helped Robert Flaherty direct "Shadows in the South Seas", and the following year, he was signed by MGM to make "Trader Horn", but it took two years to complete due to all the complications of location filming. The following year, he directed "Tarzan the Ape Man", and the huge success of that movie made him one of the top directors of the 1930s. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that a young Joan Crawford can be seen in three of these stills! Note that we have pictured the backs of these stills (see our images). Condition: very good. The stills are in pretty nice condition! Learn More about condition grades
