The Instituto Cubano del Arte e Industria Cinematograficos (ICAIC or Cuban Institute of Cinematographic Art and Industry) was established by the Cuban government in March 1959 after the Cuban Revolution. The goals of ICAIC are to produce, distribute and exhibit films, to use film as a powerful mass communication medium, and to improve the quality level of Cuban films. Through educating the new generation of young directors, one of its responsibilities is to transform Cuba from a country of cinematic consumption to a production. Artist: Nelson Ponce Important Added Info: Note that silkscreen (also known as screen printing) is a printing technique whereby a mesh is used to transfer ink onto a poster. Only one color is printed at a time, so several screens must be used to produce a multicolored design, and it is a laborious technique because it is traditionally all done by hand. Because of the rich thickness of the layer of color on the paper and the resulting depth and brilliance achieved through silkscreen printing, this technique was preferred by many artists throughout many cultures and periods. Condition: very good to fine. The poster is in pretty nice condition! Learn More about condition grades
