ESCARGOTS MENETREL ESCARGOTS MENETREL advertising poster OR search current auctions Auction History Result 5z167 ESCARGOTS MENETREL 47x63 French advertising poster 1930s art of snail hunted by man w/fork! Date Sold 4/26/2018Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. A French Advertising Poster (measures 47 1/4" x 63" [120 x 160 cm]) (Learn More) Escargots Menetrel, the circa 1930s French advertising poster promoting a brand of escargot (snails) which were available at Aux Parcs de Bourgogne, and featuring art of a man with a fork hiding behind a red leaf and watching a snail by Rudd. If anyone knows more about this poster, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Artist: Rudd Important Added Info: Please note that this is one of the first 226 items we are currently auctioning in this set of auctions are mostly non-movie posters (and most of them are from countries outside the U.S.). It occurred to us that it makes far more sense to auction these in our auction of "special posters" (which also includes lots of non-movie posters) than in our auctions of "oversized rolled" items that include many U.S. posters (like banners, 40x60s, etc). This item needs to be shipped in a tube over 30" (perhaps much longer). WHILE IT IS POSSIBLE THAT THIS POSTER CAN BE COMBINED WITH THE 773 SPECIAL POSTERS THAT FOLLOWS THE FIRST 226, THERE ARE ALSO MANY CASES WHERE IT CAN NOT BE COMBINED. The main reason for this would be if you buy many of the regular posters and a small number of the very oversized ones. If they were combined, the very oversized one would surely become damaged, so in that case, it would need to go in its own tube, and please bear this in mind before bidding on this very oversized poster. Condition: good. The large blank borders of the poster have darkened substantially and have become quite brittle with age, and there are some areas of paper loss along them (and the poster is difficult to handle without losing some of the edge paper.) The art of the poster itself has darkened in some areas but remains largely intact. The poster is in urgent need of restoration, and certainly a competent restorer could repair the defects described above, but please bear in mind the cost of restoration before placing a bid.
