Important Added Info: Note that this rare French poster from 1937, which we have never auctioned before, has one of the finest images of Marlene Dietrich to appear on any poster for any movie she made. It has a completely different and superior image from that of the French one-panel poster for this movie, which we have also never auctioned before, but which we have seen. Finally, note that this poster originally had a blank top area that measured approximately 3" (like Belgian posters from this period). The person who owned this poster likely had that top blank area trimmed off because it looks better framed without it, but only blank white paper was affected. What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster had a small blank top area that was neatly trimmed off (see above). It had minor wear on the folds and in the borders. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. The restorer backed the poster "in the European style" onto a thin linen backing, meaning that they did not do restoration to the defects described above. Learn More about condition grades
