An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 26" x 40" [66 x 102 cm]) (Learn More) Zane Grey's Fighting Caravans, the 1931 Otto Brower & David Burton romantic cowboy western ("A stirring, thrilling spectacle of the indomitable courage of men and women... their hardship - their loves!"; based on the novel by Zane Grey; about a rough cowboy who gets a pretty girl to pose as his wife to avoid going to jail, and he takes her on a wagon train to California, still posing as his wife, and he comes to show her respect and ends up saving the entire wagon train as well) starring Gary Cooper, Lili Damita, Ernest Torrence, Fred Kohler, and Tully Marshall NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned two examples of this first release one-sheet, and those were 20 and 27 years ago (when each of them sold for $1,265)! Note that this poster has no blank borders, but it has NOT been trimmed. This is one of two unusual experiments Paramount did with one-sheets from part of 1928 through part of 1931. They printed their regular one-sheets with a "full bleed", meaning the solid borders ran all the way to the edge of the poster, and the small writing at the bottom is within the color area, because there is no white area beneath it. They also made some special one-sheets, which are basically like giant half-sheets (printed on the same thick material), but they measure either 26" x 40" or 27" x 41" and also have no blank borders. Both of these printing methods were abandoned after a short time (probably because printers at the time had difficulty printing with a full bleed). It would not be until around 1990 that printers would again print movie posters with a full bleed! Note that this one-sheet measures 26" x 40" [66 x 102 cm], but it has not been trimmed. Condition: very good. The poster had small separation at each crossfold and at the left and right ends of the top and bottom folds, and also separation at the bottom of the vertical fold. Someone put conservation tape on the back of each of these areas. The poster can be displayed as it is, or certainly, it can be linenbacked. Learn More about condition grades
