An Autographed 8" x 10" [20 x 25 cm] Publicity Still (Learn More) Farley Granger was an actor from the 1940s to the 2000s. He was signed by Samuel Goldwyn in 1943 when he was 18, and he had two significant roles, but then joined the army. After getting out of the army, he made They Live By Night for Nicholas Ray, and he had great success with Rope and Strangers on a Train, both for Alfred Hitchcock. In 1954, he starred in Senso in Italy for Visconti. He moved to New York, where he spent the next 13 years on TV and on Broadway. He then returned to Italy and made a series of films there. He passed away in 2011 at the age of 85. Important Added Info: Note that this still has been personally autographed (signed) by Farley Granger! Also note that many celebrities kept multiple 8" x 10" (or smaller) copies of good publicity images of themselves to sign for fans, and also many memorabilia shops sold such copy stills themselves. While they are not original theater-used stills, they are usually excellent clear copies, with a great shot of that celebrity in their heyday, which, when signed by the celebrity, makes for a wonderful framed picture on any fan's wall! The consignor of this autographed item (and a number of other signed items in this auction) is a longtime autograph collector who does not have a Certificate of Authenticity (COA) for this item, but he feels certain it is genuine. Many of the items he has consigned were purchased from an autograph store that was going out of business when the owner retired, and many of the items he has consigned to this set of auctions come from this purchase. As is true of all the signed items we are currently auctioning, we give every buyer 30 days in which to review what they purchased and they can return any item as long as it is within 30 days of the end of the auction. On non-signed items, we give a "lifetime guarantee" on everything we auction, but on signed items, we give the above modified guarantee of 30 days after the auction closes.
