eMoviePoster.comAuction History Result 8r0267 LOVE HAPPY alternate style Danish program 1951 Wenzel art of Marx Brothers, no Marilyn, rare! Date Sold 5/13/2021Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original 1951 (from the first release of this movie in Denmark) Vintage Theatrical Danish Movie Program (measures 4 1/2" x 6 3/4" [11 x 17 cm]; 4 pages) (Learn More) Love Happy, the 1949 David Miller musical screwball comedy ("New Musical Girlesque!!!"; "Their Newest! Funniest! Musical!") starring the Marx Brothers (Groucho, Chico, and Harpo), Ilona Massey ("Screendom's most beautiful blonde!"), Vera-Ellen ("Thrills in the torrid 'Sadie Thompson' dance!"), Marion Hutton ("She swings with the strings of your heart!"), Raymond Burr, Melville Cooper, Leon Belasco, Paul Valentine, Eric Blore, Bruce Gordon, Otto Waldis, and Marilyn Monroe (in only her second credited movie role!). What is remarkable is that the people who designed the posters put pictures of three pretty girls on them, but did not manage to make Marilyn Monroe one of them, surely a major blunder. She WAS pictured on one of the lobby cards, but that seems to have been almost by chance! I know this was because she was unknown at the time, but I would think they would have recognized her obvious assets! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: Wenzel Important Added Info: Note that this promotional item looks like the regular Danish program (and has the same image as it on the "cover" (but a different color), but actually, it is something different. It printed on a single sheet of paper that measures 9" x 13 1/2", and it is folded twice, which makes it the same size as the program, but one side of it is a full ad for the movie! So we are not sure what this is, but we are calling it an "alternate style" Danish program, since it resembles that (and we have never seen another Danish item like this for any other movie). Marilyn Monroe is billed on each side, but she is not pictured as one would expect her to be if this was from a 1950s re-release, so we think it is from the 1951 first release, just as the regular program is. If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. We have photographed both sides of the program completely unfolded. Condition: good to very good.
