An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Three-Sheet Movie Poster (3sh; measures 41" x 81" [104 x 206 cm]) (Learn More) The Saint's Vacation, the 1941 Leslie Fenton English/U.S. detective crime mystery thriller ("From the story by Leslie Charteris") starring Hugh Sinclair (in the title role as The Saint), Sally Gray, Arthur Macrae, Cecil Parker, Leueen McGrath, and Gordon McLeod. Note that this is one of the nine "Saint" movies made by RKO, based on Leslie Charteris' classic character, The Saint (the first of these was in 1938, The Saint in New York, where Louis Hayward played the title role, and then George Sanders took over). However, Charteris often disagreed with any story changes made by RKO and with Sanders' interpretation of his character. Because of this (and to save on royalty fees), the 1941 film "The Saint in Palm Springs" was the last of the series produced by RKO. Instead, they made "The Gay Falcon", which obviously starred the exact same character, but with the name changed (and there were many more in that series). Mr. Charteris threatened to sue RKO over this but the matter was settled out-of-court, and in 1953, RKO handled U.S. distribution for the English film "The Saint's Return" (also known as "The Saint's Girl Friday"), which starred Louis Hayward, who had played The Saint in the first RKO movie!
