An Original Vintage Deluxe English 10" x 12" [25 x 30 cm] News Photo (Learn More)

Raising the Flag on Iwo Jima is a historic photograph taken on February 23, 1945 by Joe Rosenthal. It depicts six United States Marines raising the U.S. flag at the top of Mount Suribachi during the Battle of Iwo Jima in World War II (WWII). The photograph was first published in Sunday newspapers on February 25, 1945. It was extremely popular and was reprinted in thousands of publications. It was the only photograph to win the Pulitzer Prize for Photography in the same year as its publication, and came to be regarded in the United States as one of the most significant and recognizable images of the war. That have been many artwork reproductions and satirical posters based on the photograph.
Important Added Info: Note that we would think that this English news photo is surely from 1945, due to the age of the still and the large stamp on the back (see our images). Note that this English news photo measures 10" x 12" [25 x 30 cm]. Also note that this is a deluxe news photo printed on double weight paper stock.

Condition: good to very good.
