An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Half-Sheet Movie Poster (1/2sh; measures 22" x 28" [56 x 71 cm]) (Learn More) Dangerous, the 1935 Alfred Green alcoholic theater stage actress romantic love triangle melodrama ("The story of a girl that men regret!"; about an alcoholic washed up former star who meets a young architect, and he inspires her to pull herself together and she does so, but he becomes romantically involved with a beautiful younger woman, which causes her to self-destruct) starring Bette Davis (winner of the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), Franchot Tone, Margaret Lindsay, Allison Skipworth, John Eldredge, and Dick Foran. Note that Bette Davis gave her usual wonderful performance in this movie (it seems likely her character was based on Jeanne Eagels), but few people consider it to be a classic. Bette Davis won the Academy Award for Best Actress for this movie, but it seems likely that this was just because she had been denied the award the previous year for perhaps her best performance ever, as Mildred in "Of Human Bondage"! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that ANY movie paper from this movie is incredibly rare. We have only previously auctioned a few lobby cards and some stills from this movie (and NO other movie paper of any kind) until we received this half-sheet, which we have never auctioned before! Also note that the half-sheet was folded once in each direction at one time. Because the folds are such that they have not diminished over time, AND because the poster was folded down the exact center in each direction, then we MAY fold the half-sheet prior to mailing, if it reduces shipping costs, and if you do not also purchase other half-sheets that need to be sent rolled. So it will be sent either rolled in a tube or folded in a standard flat package. Condition: good. The poster was folded by hand, so the horizontal fold is at a slight diagonal in each direction. It has creases and scuffs along both folds, with smudges, scuffs, tears, and stains around the edges, and some faint smudges scattered in Davis' image. Someone put some tape on the back of some of the tears, but otherwise did no restoration. Obviously, this incredibly rare poster can be restored, but bear the above in mind before bidding on it.
