An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked British Quad Movie Poster (measures approximately 30" x 40") (Learn More) James Ivory's Shakespeare-Wallah, the 1965 James Ivory India family relationship theater stage acting melodrama ("The delightful drama of the travels of an English Shakespeare troupe in present-day India, which won sensational acclaim at the Berlin and London Film Festivals."; written by Ruth Prawer Jhabvala and James Ivory; produced by Ismail Merchant) starring Shashi Kapoor, Felicity Kendal, Geoffrey Kendal, Laura Liddell, and Madhur Jaffrey. Note that this was the third movie from the team of Merchant/Ivory/Jhabvala, but it was the first one that brought them worldwide acclaim! If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: very good. This poster was linenbacked, and one of the following is true: either the poster had very minor defects, and was well backed, OR it had more significant defects, but they were extremely well restored, OR it had some minor defects that were not completely restored, and are somewhat noticeable. You can tell which of the above is the case for this particular poster by reading our "pre-restoration" description and also by looking at our "super-sized" image of the actual poster (we are the only major auction company we know of that gives accurate detailed pre-restoration information about linenbacked posters to our bidders, but we wish everyone did!). The poster had faint creases and scuffs throughout. There was a 12" tear starting in the left of the bottom border (below the girl's hand) and running slightly diagonally up through her body. The bottom border had many dirt stains and was tattered, and the other borders have smudges, stains, tears, and areas of paper loss. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was pretty well backed, but the linenbacker pretty much left the poster's minor defects "as is".
