An Undated (probably 1950s) Re-Release Theatrical Folded French One-Panel "Grande" Movie Poster (1p; measures 47" x 62 3/4" [119 x 159 cm]) (Learn More) Les Carottiers, the 1931 James W. Horne slapstick comedy starring Stan Laurel, Oliver Hardy (Laurel and Hardy), Anita Garvin, Germaine De Neel, Jean De Briac, and Charles Dorety. This is a VERY odd movie, which shows just how popular Laurel & Hardy were in 1931, even in France! The distributors of this movie took two Laurel & Hardy short films, "Be Big" and "Laughing Gravy", and combined them into a single feature, and Laurel & Hardy dubbed their dialog into French by speaking it phonetically, and they even filmed a changed ending, where Stan will inherit a fortune if he promises to leave Ollie forever, but of course, he refuses! Even more interesting, this movie was filmed as the original two shorts were filmed, and they also created a Spanish language version the same way, and that was called "Los calaveras"!
