Potter romantic love triangle musical ("Based on the play 'The Yellow Nightingale' by Hermann Bahr"; "A gay continental love story!"; "Glorious singing!"; about a male opera star who sees a young opera singer at a competition, and he tells her to 'look him up' if she gets to where he lives, but then when she does, he ignores her, because he is romancing a countess, and she manages to get a job as a maid in his house!) starring Gladys Swarthout, John Boles, John Barrymore, Claire Dodd, Fritz Feld, and Curt Bois. Note that Gladys Swarthout was a real life Metropolitan Opera star, and Paramount built this movie around her singing. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: This was printed by Associated Displays Corporation which was a company based in New York City. Before it was discovered by noted poster dealer/historian Walter Reuben, collectors did not know the name of this company (and thought it to be located in the Midwest), and it is often referred to as the "other company" (and we will continue to refer to it that way, since collectors know it that way). From 1936 to roughly 1941, this company printed its own one-sheets and lobby card sets (and a very few inserts, half-sheets, three-sheets, 40x60s and stills) for three major studio movies (Warner Brothers, Paramount and United Artists, but no other studios). The items almost always feature a tiny legal disclaimer and cast credits only. The posters and lobby cards are from the original release of the movie, and almost always have completely different artwork from the regular studio release. They did this by combining elements from different film scenes onto one poster or card. Sometimes, "other company" posters have images that are the equal of those from the regular studio release posters. Condition: good to very good. There is small paper loss at upper left in Swarthout's hair and there is paper loss in the upper and center crossfold of the poster. There are creases and tiny tears along portions of the center vertical foldline. Learn More about condition grades
