An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Style A Half-Sheet Movie Poster (1/2sh; measures 22" x 28" [56 x 71 cm]) (Learn More) Behind the German Lines, the 1928 German silent World War I (WWI) documentary ("Actually photographed on the battlefields of the Great War."; it was a combination of lots of actual wartime newsreel footage, with a few studio shot scenes to bridge in between the newsreel footage). In 1928, UFA, the giant German film company, made a 3-part film called "The World War as Seen Through German Spectacles" (each part was 2 hours long, and apparently it was released in the U.S. in 5 parts that same year). That series was done with the cooperation of the German government, and therefore, it was very pro-German, presenting the "German view" of World War I. Later that same year, UFA followed that up with this movie, but this documentary was not sanctioned by the government, so it gave a more even view of the war. If anyone knows more about this movie, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Note that movie paper from the first UFA documentary seems to be virtually nonexistent (we have never auctioned any), and movie paper from this second UFA documentary is almost as rare (we have auctioned a single half-sheet and a single window card, and nothing else)! If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned one example of this half-sheet (we auctioned that same example twice), so this is only the second example of this half-sheet we have ever auctioned! Condition: very good. The poster was never folded. It has some tiny tears and dot stains around the edges, with a tiny bit of paper loss in the right of the bottom blank border, and light yellow staining scattered in the top of the right border and in the right of the top border, and small tears and a crease in the middle of the top blank border. Otherwise, it has survived in really nice condition! Learn More about condition grades
