An Original Vintage Folded Dutch World War II Poster (measures 31 1/2" x 45 1/4" [80 x 115 cm]) (Learn More)

Het 2 de Front (literally translates to "The Second Front"), the circa 1944 Dutch World War II (WWII) poster created by the Nazi German-occupying forces to warn the Dutch people of the dangers of the Soviet armies approaching from the east. Note that this poster features art of a terrified child fleeing from a burning town.
If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that this poster measures 31 1/2" x 45 1/4", and it was completely folded at one time, but it has been mostly unfolded (solely folded in half) for a long time. We can completely re-fold the poster (which will not harm it) and send it in a small flat package, or we could roll it in a tube while it is folded in half, so it would need to be sent in a tube that measures approximately 25" long. How we send it will depend on what the winning bidder wants, and whether they have flat or rolled items to combine it with. Note that this is one of a remarkable collection of 14 posters that were printed in Holland during World War II while they were occupied by Nazi Germany. They are all propaganda posters designed to sway the Dutch people to support the Nazis and fear the Allies. These posters are surely incredibly rare (since any surviving ones would have likely been destroyed soon after Holland was liberated, and in addition, there were huge paper shortages at this time. We are auctioning the 14 posters in 14 separate auctions. This is an extremely rare opportunity to purchase one or more of these extremely rare posters, which likely should be displayed in museums. Also note that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube.

Condition: fair to good. The poster is extremely fragile and has darkening on the folds, with small paper loss at the crossfolds, except for the bottom left crossfold, which has larger paper loss (but it is solely in the background). There are some tears and tiny paper loss around the edges. The poster is in urgent need of expert professional restoration. But the poster is mostly "all there", and after linenbacking by a talented professional, the poster will look fantastic, and it will likely require little paint restoration within the image (although that depends on if the new owner wants the darkening on the folds eliminated through paint restoration). Please bear in mind this poster's very significant defects and the cost of restoration before placing a bid on it.
