An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) Prison Ship, the 1945 Arthur Dreifuss World War II (WWII) prisoner-of-war (POW) melodrama ("Exposed!"; "The brutal story of Jap prison cruelty!"; "The terror story of a sinister Jap torture ship!"; "Beautiful woman at the mercy of Jap torturers!"; about a group of Allied prisoners during World War II, including women and children, who the Japanese put onto a ship intending it as a decoy for American submarines, hoping the Americans torpedo their own people, and thus prevent them from attacking Japanese ships) starring Nina Foch, Robert Lowery, Richard Loo, Ludwig Donath, Robert Scott, Barry Bernard, and Eric Rolf. Note that this film is based on "hell ships", which were used by the Japanese to transport Allied POWs and romushas (Asian forced slave laborers). The ships had extremely inhumane living conditions and often a reputation for cruelty among the crew. These unmarked prisoner transports were also targeted as enemy ships by Allied submarines and aircraft, and more than 20,000 Allied POWs died at sea when the transport ships carrying them were attacked. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: good. There are several clear tape repairs scattered throughout the back of the poster to repair pairs of staple holes and some small tears and areas of separation. There is discoloration throughout the back of the poster, but it does not appear to have any effect on the front. Learn More about condition grades
