An Original 1960 Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) Escapement (released in the U.S. in 1960 as "The Electronic Monster"), the 1958 David Paltenghi & Montgomery Tully English psychiatry science fiction (sci-fi) horror thriller ("They dealt in dreams - and murder!"; based on the novel by Charles Eric Maine; about an American insurance investigator in the south of France, who investigates a psychiatrist who uses "electronic dream therapy" to treat his patients, which allows him to take control of their lives and their assets) starring Rod Cameron, Mary Murphy, Meredith Edwards, Peter Illing, Carl Jaffe, and Kay Callard NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this poster is a really fun example of just how rigid the Canadian censors were about posters that showed any kind of sex and violence in the 1950s and early 1960s. The poster has an image of a girl wearing a red bikini-like garment, and apparently that was just too much for the Canadian censor, because they painted additional red over her stomach and upper chest to try to create the illusion that she was wearing a dress! What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster had censor paint on the girl's body (see above). Depending on how you look at it, this is either a major detraction or a cool addition. It also had minor fold and border wear, with paper loss in the center of the bottom border, and a Canadian censor stamp in the bottom background area. Other than the censor paint, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The restorer backed the poster "in the European style", meaning that they did not do restoration to the defects described above. Learn More about condition grades
